2 day In-class Earned Value Management Course
"Master Class in Earned Value Management" is an addition to the master class in project management, in which the EVM method is taught to carry out an efficient and effective project follow-up.
At the time of project definition and at the end of the planning, the project team has defined the "baselines" for planning and budget, and these are used during project execution to evaluate the progress of the project in terms of schedule and costs.
The traditional methods based on current costs and Gantt led to situations in which the projects were completed too late and moreover, above the allocated budget, with all the consequences that entailed.
The EVM method was developed during the Polaris project in the United States in the 1950s and is still the standard for evaluating projects objectively today. The success of the method has led to EVM being used in many projects and in many cases, also prescribed.
General Description of the Course
Introducing EVM into your projects provides an objective view of the progress of the project and allows you to detect problems early and make informed decisions so that the financial resources are used optimally, and projects that show problems can be identified early.
In the course, the principles are explained step by step, the various parameters are defined, the formulas are constructed, the correct interpretation of the results is explained and evaluated, and calculations are performed on various cases.
The course is typically taught in English or Dutch (Flemish), but we are open to discussing other languages. All course materials are in English.
Detailed Course Program - Day 1
- Introduction to the course and testing expectations,
- Definition of a simple project and budgeting
- Definition of the basic EVM parameters and interpretation
